Overview:
The world’s first School of Journalism was established in 1908 at the University of Missouri-Columbia to strengthen the effectiveness of public communications in a democratic society. The Missouri School of Journalism is committed to preparing journalists through an education that combines practical experiences and the study of the liberal arts.

Academic Information

Admission Requirements:
Admission to the School of Journalism is competitive. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA or appeal for admission. Students must complete 60 credits that includes some specific coursework to be eligible to apply.

Beginning in Fall 2006, Students with ACT scores of 29 or higher (1280 or higher on the SAT) may be directly admitted.
Minimum GPA for Admission: 3.0
Specifically required non-major courses for the BJ degree:
Statistics 1200: Introduction to Statistical Reasoning
Economics 1014: Microeconomics
Economics 1015: Macroeconomics (Advertising Students Only)
American or British Literature course
Foreign language through the intermediate level
