Overview:

The Bachelor of Science in Education degree, with an emphasis in elementary education, prepares students for Missouri Teacher Certification to work with children in grades 1-6.

The College of Education is fully accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges, and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Academic Information

Admission Requirements:

Any incoming student that is admitted to the University may be admitted to the College of Education.

All students must apply to Phase II of the Teacher Development Program. To apply, students must be currently enrolled in the College of Education, have a composite score of 22 on the ACT or 1010 on the Re-centered SAT; a 2.750 cumulative MU and overall GPA; successful completion of TDP 1100, 2000 and 2040; College Algebra, Statistics 1200, English 1000; a score of 235 or higher on each section of the CBASE exam; and satisfactory completion of Phase I Portfolio requirements.

To transfer to the College of Education, students need an ACT composite score of 22 or higher and a GPA based on the total number of hours they have completed as follows:
Freshmen: 2.500 MU and overall cumulative GPA
Sophomores: 2.600 MU and overall cumulative GPA
Juniors/Seniors: 2.750 MU and overall cumulative GPA

Minimum GPA for Admission: 2.75
