Overview:
The Chemistry Department offers two versions of the Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. The first, certified by the Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society, is designed especially for those students who desire professional employment as a chemist or who wish to pursue graduate education in chemistry. The second track is a Medicinal Chemistry concentration, designed for students wishing to pursue postgraduate education in medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, dentistry, or other medically related professions.
The BA degree offered by the Department of Chemistry is designed for those students who desire a more general education than that provided by the BS degree but nonetheless are seeking a chemistry emphasis area. This degree also may be appropriate for students in pre-professional programs (pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-pharmacy, and pre-law).
