Route / Course: (see route map)
All events will begin and end at the Fairview Shopping Centre, Montego Bay.
1. “BIKEATHON” / Stage One – “Rotary Cup”:
Recreational riders will start after the Professional/Amateur cyclists on an essentially flat course along the main road towards the Howard Cooke Boulevard/Craft Market (Harbour Street), and return to the start/ finish area before heading west along the main road towards Lucea/Negril. The course remains flat with a few gently rising slopes along a scenic route beside the deep blue Caribbean Sea and the distant hills. Recreational riders will turn around after crossing the Great River and going up the incline towards the Round Hill Bluff. With the wind facing all the riders as they head back to the finish, “the tough” will have to get going to get back to the start and win an award.
2. “JAMAICA CHALLENGE” / Stage Two – “Rotary Cup”
Professional/Amateur cyclists will continue towards Lucea with a fast descent and a steep hill leading into the district of Hopewell. With the wind helping them along the rising slopes and gentle descents through the district of Sandy Bay, riders should prepare for headwinds and crosswinds all the way to Montego Bay, as they cross the Lucea East River and turn around for the ride back.
3. Stage Three — International Cup: “Jamaica In Bond Cup”
